Watch in Cinema

Celebrate Asian Heritage Month by seeing yourself on screen, with this special event hosted by the RepresentASIAN Project.

It’s been just over five years since Crazy Rich Asians hit the big screen and changed the game for Asian representation in film. And five years since the film inspired Madelyn Chung's first article in what would become the RepresentASIAN Project.

The first Hollywood film in 25 years to feature a predominantly Asian cast since Joy Luck Club, the box office hit showcased Asian characters who were not stereotypical nerds nor martial arts masters, but the leads of a romantic comedy.

Based on the bestselling novel by Kevin Kwan, directed by Jon M. Chu (In the Heights, Wicked), adapted for screen by Adele Lim (Joy Ride, Raya and the Last Dragon) and featuring powerhouse performances from Michelle Yeoh and Constance Wu, this film is rich in title and in Asian talent from start to finish.

Join Madelyn Chung, founder of the RepresentASIAN Project and Stacy Lee Kong of Friday Things, for a special pre-screening discussion of why Crazy Rich Asians is so impactful, and how far we’ve come in Asian representation since its release.
